The Royal Akarana Yacht Club have invited Stand Up Paddlers to join in a free two-weekly fun paddle with tides, ferry wake, current, breakwater and boats for added race excitement. Safety leashes are compulsory. Meet at the Yacht Club every second Thursday for a 5.45pm race briefing. Bar and bbq will be open. It’s a great opportunity for a bit of a work out followed by a beer and catch-up with the rest of the crew. We’ll probably have a (+/-) 10km course and a 3 - 5 km course, so all abilities are catered for. The SUPSNZ team will be there from 5pm doing demos, and you’re welcome to just cruise around the bay if you’re not up to racing yet.
The RAYC is located right on the boat ramp called “The Landing, Okahu Bay” off Tamaki Drive. Easy to find, plenty of parking, grass area to rest your board on and hot showers available.
No charge for the race or demos, cash bar open for sausages and drinks at the club after the race.
For further details contact Jeremy (ph 021 926698).
See you there!

The event raised $55,000 this year for the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation’s post-surgery rehabilitation programme.
