Kohimarama Beach | 26th February 2011
What a day! Light SW winds and brilliant sunshine saw hundreds of people gather on Kohimarama Beach for the second event of the Hyundai Auckland City Series on Saturday, with a record 55 competitors racing in either the Novice 3km or Open 10km course, a diamond shaped from Kohi to the Tamaki Yacht Club Marker, around Bean Rock to the Ladies Bay Marker, and back in to Kohi Beach to finish.
A few paddlers found the last upwind leg just a little too much, and elected to be plucked out of the race by the safety boat, but most finished with a smile.
Next event 19th March 2011, Kohimarama Beach. Registration Opens at 12pm. Race Start 2pm.
