Starboard SUP Kids

Stand Up Paddleboard Club for kids

Takapuna | Tuesdays, 31 Oct - 19 Dec, 4pm-5pm

Okahu Bay | Saturdays, 28 Oct - 16 Dec, 9.30am-10.30am

Progress through the basics, turn better, paddle faster and stronger with great technique, improve confidence and learn all about the ocean and staying safe on the water while having fun with your friends, under the guidance of certified Starboard SUP Coaches.  We want to make this as much fun as possible, learning about the ocean and sea stewardship at the same time as building skills, strength and speed.  It is ideal for kids 10-14yo (and younger ones if they are gunning for it!)

Takapuna Session starts at 4.15pm. Please arrive by 4pm in order to be ready for the 4.15pm start.

Okahu Bay Session starts at 9.45am. Please arrive by 9am in order to be ready for the 9.45am start.

$160 for the term (includes equipment hire) or $200 for both Tues and Sat.  Family Discounts apply (2 or more children = $120ea/term).

All paddlers must wear a PFD and be able to swim 25m unaided. Parents/guardians are required to stay in visual contact.

PaddleFit Pro Coach Victoria Stuart will be leading the program, using PaddleFit Pro Coaching Drills and our specially designed junior performance program, in conjunction with Alexandra Murphy (Occupational Therapist and Certified SUP Instructor).  Whenever possible we'll be bringing in guest coaches from our Junior Elites such as Ollie Houghton and Brianna Orams, or Elites JP Tobin, Jeremy Stephenson etc.

When it's over 15knots or 0.5m swell we'll move class to either Orakei Basin or Lake Pupuke (Surf Groms are welcome to stay at the beach with their parents!).  The Saturday morning class might occasionally be relocated to Orewa when surf conditions allow.

Group 2 Paddlers are encouraged to bring their own boards, paddles and lifejackets.  Starboard has some crazy deals on 12'6 carbon race boards and kids racers, so if you're thinking about investing in a new or ex-demo board please get in touch with Jeremy 021 926 698.

Please make sure your children are suitably kitted out with wetsuits and booties - especially if they feel the cold.  PFDs are provided.  Sunscreen and hats recommended.  Food and drink for afterwards a must.

Limited numbers - bookings essential.
