Starboard Junior SUP Academy




Progress through the basics, turn better, paddle faster and stronger with great technique, improve confidence and learn all about the ocean and staying safe on the water while having fun with your friends, under the guidance of certified NZSUP and PaddleFit Coaches.  

Ideal for kids starting to race at the Ray White Mission Bay City Surf events on a Thursday evening at Okahu Bay and Mission Bay or at NZ SUP NATIONALS 11-12 March.

Aimed at kids 10 years and over, (Year 8+), the SUP Academy will run for Term 1 Monday afternoons (5pm-6pm). 

The 8-week program will teach kids everything they need to start and progress in SUP racing, including important water safety knowledge, equipment handling, paddle skills, technique drills, race strategy and SUP fitness. 

The Junior Academy team are encouraged to join Teen SUP racing on Thursdays at Mission Bay or NZ SUP Nationals.   

The program costs $160 for the term (BYOB) or $200 if equipment rental is required.

Meet at the Landing, Okahu Bay unless otherwise informed by coach. We will move around according to wind direction and strength, and occasionally may head over to Orakei Basin.
Classes will focus on fun drills, playing games and practising skills that build fitness and knowledge.
All participants must wear a PFD as per NZ Maritime Law.
