The rise and fall of the breath, the ebb and flow of the tide, the wax and wane of the moon, the high and low of our body's cycle, the regular beat of life's circle...  These natural rhythms remind us we are a part of something bigger, and they fill us with gratitude, remind us to keep it simple, and connect us to our reality. 

Join our Pod for a day of connection, movement, rhythm and growth at Castor Bay beach as we explore what it is to be in a state of flow and in tune with your own natural rhythm.

We start the day by connecting with our internal rhythm through breath and movement on our yoga mats, taking it onto the water for some PaddleFit tempo workshops to help you glide with ease, and coming back to the breath with a playful SUP yoga session on our floating mats. Your Pod Facilitators

PaddleFit Pro (Level 3) SUP Instructor Victoria Stuart (Starboard SUPSNZ) has been paddling since 2008, and enjoys all aspects of SUP: racing, downwinding, surfing, SUP Yoga and Fitness paddling, and adventuring. Her passion is sharing her love and knowledge of SUP with others. She has helped to develop and teach the PaddleOn SUP Rehabilitation program with The PINC & STEEL Cancer Rehabilitation Trust, and organises SUP events and classes to help inspire and give confidence, especially to women and juniors. Ocean-lover. Mother of three. Dream chaser.

Yoga Alliance registered Yoga Teacher, Natalie Stettler (The Mat) is a devoted yogi, adventure loving spirit and proud Mama. She divides, her time between liquid and frozen oceans, and shares her passion for the mountains and the sea with her two daughters. She was raised by a mountain guide father who taught her the value of sitting quietly with her fears and breathing through them, until they passed and she was able to climb the mountain or ski down the hill with a grin on her face and her heart pounding in her chest. When she's not in the yoga studio teaching or practicing, Nat can be found in the forest on her mountain bike or out for a paddle with Victoria, exploring the native bush on her "me time" or chilling at the beach for some "down time."

Life Coach and SUP Instructor Helen Blair (CitySUP) discovered stand up paddling and a love of the ocean aged 40. Over a 20 year career in Human Resources as an academic and then with the BBC, Marks & Spencer and Fonterra, coaching leaders and teams became second nature. She then discovered being a SUP coach was an amazing way to help people to balance mind and body on the water. Starting her own business last year, CitySUP now offers a range of stand up paddling experiences in and around Auckland. Helen lives in the Eastern Bays with the Kiwi boy who brought her to New Zealand 10 years ago (and two adorable spaniels). When not walking her dogs or on the water, she's in the forest improving her mountain biking skills ... always something to be learning.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?
There is some parking on The Esplanade and on nearby streets. Please be sure to read the signage on time limits. Buses go to Castor Bay from the city.

What should I wear and bring to the event?
Please bring a waterbottle or camelbak, active wear clothing suitable for yoga, walking (including shoes), paddling and SUP Yoga. You will need to bring a few changes of clothes in case you get wet in the paddling workshop and/or the SUP Yoga workshop. We recommend warm layers such as merino or polyprop, and choosing quick-dry polyester fabrics. If it is raining, a light waterproof jacket. You'll also need a cap, sunnies and sunscreen. Don't forget your togs and towel, and because it is NZ, your puffa jacket.

Pod is an annual Move Over Cancer event, to bring a focus on the importance of exercise, nutrition and mental health in helping to reduce the risk of cancer. A portion of proceeds will be donated to PINC & STEEL Cancer Rehabilitation Trust to help fund the PaddleOn SUP Rehabilitation Program.
